Sumithra,daughter of king Ashoka,founded the place while she was travelling to SriLanka through Adurru.The Mahastupa,built on wheel shaped plan17 feet in diameter with raised platform running all round the drum and ayaka platforms on cardinal directions in 2 acres of land.It is around 2500 years old.
